Contact us. You do not need a doctor’s referral to attend physiotherapy.
The practice focuses on REHABILITATION: neuromusculoskeletal, neurological (e.g. CP and stroke), sports, spinal and chest conditions are amongst the conditions we manage. Another division is medicolegal practice. Our physiotherapy services are often used by elite sports people and at international events, as well as within our community where we provide physiotherapy and training services to Siyakwazi (a local NGO supporting disabled community children and their families). Exposure to and interest in current international research ensures that the physiotherapists (Grace Hughes and Erin van Graan), are knowledgeable and up-to-date in their medical field.
The practice strives to deliver evidence-based and effective physiotherapy to ensure correct diagnosis and efficient treatments, every time. Physiotherapy research over the last decade has revolutionised the way our patients are assessed and managed; we strive to care for each person sympathetically, professionally, and successfully. We also provide necessary information in order to understand injury or pathology, thereby facilitating the healing and rehabilitation process.
ABOUT US
Grace Hughes is a professional, dedicated and enthusiastic physiotherapist who places considerable emphasis on the importance of her patients, through interested, caring and effective treatment.
She completed her physiotherapy degree at the University of Cape Town and then went on to complete her Masters degree in sports medicine there too. She is specifically interested in the rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeletal, sports, neurological and spinal conditions. Grace is one of the few KZN physiotherapists who lectures on the South African National postgraduate Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy course, run under the auspices of Wits University.
She has been physiotherapist to many South African Sports Teams, including wheelchair basketball, swimming, running, golf, rugby, surfing, cycling, athletics, hockey and mountain-biking. She has accompanied the athletes to many events including the All Africa Games (Algeria), Commonwealth Games (Melbourne, Delhi and Glasgow), World Games (Dusseldorf), Paralympic Games (Beijing and London) and more recently to the Olympic Games in Rio. She was selected for the Tokyo games, before they were postponed. At a number of these games, she led the physiotherapy team as chief physiotherapist, South Africa.
This elite, international, as well as local exposure in a number of physiotherapy fields, along with periods spent working in the UK and Australia, has given her an insight into physiotherapy practices in other countries. She keeps up her academic interest by lecturing and attending many international courses and congresses.
The experience and knowledge she has, has also facilitated her work as a medicolegal practitioner; this aspect of her practice continues to grow.
Erin van Graan graduated from the University of the Western Cape with a BSc Physiotherapy degree in 2019 and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
She completed her community service in 2020 at Port Shepstone Regional Hospital, Kwazulu-Natal and completed her Dry Needling Level 1 course along with many online CPD courses.
Erin always endeavours to provide the highest care to the patients she treats as well as improving quality of life in a safe environment and looks forward to her contribution as a Physiotherapist. She has special interest in orthopaedics, neuromusculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation.
'I became passionate about and decided to make Physiotherapy my life-long profession when I realised the impact I could make in the lives of people I encounter through my daily work.'
Erin's outside interests include sport activities, hiking and is always up for an adventure.
