Grace Hughes is a professional, dedicated and enthusiastic physiotherapist who places enormous emphasis on the importance of her patients, through caring and effective treatment.

She completed her physiotherapy degree at the University of Cape Town and then went on to complete her Masters degree in Sports Medicine there too. She is specifically interested in Musculoskeletal, Sports, Spinal and Rehabilitation physiotherapy and is one of the few KZN physiotherapists who lectures on the National postgraduate Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy Course.

Grace has been physiotherapist to many South African Sports Teams, including wheelchair basketball, swimming, running, golf, rugby, surfing, cycling, athletics, hockey and mountain-biking. She has accompanied the athletes to many events including the All Africa Games (Algeria), Commonwealth Games (Melbourne and Delhi), World Games (Dusseldorf) and another Paralympic Games (Beijing). Recently she was selected chief physiotherapist for the South African Paralympic Team to London 2012.

This elite, international exposure, along with periods spent working in the UK and Australia, has given her an insight into physiotherapy practices in other countries. She keeps up her academic interest by lecturing and attending many international courses and congresses.

The experience and knowledge she has, has facilitated her work as a Medico-legal practitioner; this aspect of her practice continues to grow.


Debbie qualified as a physiotherapist at the University of Cape Town. Before moving to the South Coast she worked in Cape Town, Windhoek and Grahamstown - mostly in private practice.

The focus of Debbie's career has been in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and she continues to do this in this practice.

Debbie has also been involved as a physiotherapist in hospitals for more than 10 years where a range of conditions from chest/lungs to orthopaedics, neurological rehabilitation and ICU are covered.

Debbie is a dedicated, experienced and very effective member of the team.
